Wool & Winfrith 5 - Stalbridge 2
Goalscorers: Christian Javes 1, Isaac Stroud-Allen 1
Man of the Match: Christian Javes
Wool and Winfrith are second in the table and have been enjoying a continued winning streak. The previous home encounter had been a war of attrition with Stalbridge being on the wrong end of many physical challenges on and off the ball. The away fixture proved to be much of the same again.
With only one substitute and sustaining many fouls and injuries it was a revolving door of getting the subbed injured player back on his feet and being able to re-join the game as another forced substitution was made for yet another injury. Unfortunately the referee did nothing to ensure that this did not continue for the entire game.
That being said Stalbridge had the run of play creating lots of chances. Sam Hopkins was unlucky not to score the first goal, but the continued attacking football meant that Stalbridge took the lead through a goal from Isaac Stroud-Allen. Wool & Winfrith equalised shortly after with a goal scored on the break. They then scored a second from a corner and went in at half time 2 - 1 up.
Although battered and bruised, Stalbridge continued to play high tempo football in the second half creating many chances but were just not able to convert them. Wool & Winfrith were at their most dangerous playing on the break and scored 3 more during the second half. Christian Javes scored a great goal and was consistently in the thick of it making tackle after tackle as did all the boys.
Stalbridge put in a spirited display and should be proud of the the way they conducted themselves by not letting the constant fouling reduce their game to one of retaliation. Fantastic effort, well done!
