Stalbridge U9's faced Sherborne away in a friendly before the season kicks off next week. Stalbridge began brightly and included Freddie Elsworth in the squad to make his debut and he did very well, especially as he is an age group below. Stalbridge looked very comfortable at the back, with captain Lewis Young and Gilbert Jeanes composed on the ball and almost always first too it. Louis Parker scored two goals in a short peroid of time to put the visitors two up, before good closing down from the team saw Myles Wall score by blocking the keepers clearance straight into the net. 3-0 at half time. Sherborne came out quickly int he second half and some good play saw them peg one back and deservedly so. A long throw in fell to Dominic Coleman who hit a nice strike. Dominic soon got his second before Sherborne hit back, but not before Charlie Travers made a brilliant double save from a pentaly. Sherborne came into the match more and Charlie made two more good saves. Harley Trew scored the goal of the game finshing first time from a flowing move which started with Harry Kelly and Myles, before young Freddie Elsworth put a great ball into the box for Harley to finsih. Finally Harry Kelly got a deserved goal for his good performance to see the game finish 7-2. A great way to begin the season. Lewis Young got player of the match for his good work rate, composure on the ball and great tackling as well as his good attitude.
